Nightwish became one of the biggest bands in Finland.
Nightwish emerged in 1996, and the following year released their first album, Angels Fall First , but it wasn't until 1998, with the release of Oceanborn , that the band rose to prominence in the global metal scene.
Over the years, and despite two turbulent changes in vocalists—the departures of Tarja Turunen and Anette Olzon —Nightwish became one of the biggest bands in Finland and influenced hundreds of other bands, especially female singers.
