It's incredibly easy to look back and understand the role of each band from the 80s or 90s in the history of music.
Decades after their release, we can understand the importance of an album like The Dark Side Of The Moon or Highway To Hell , as countless bands were born or developed from them, considering these records as a source of inspiration for their sound.
But what about the more recent albums? The albums that are already a bit older but aren't yet considered classics because they were released in the 21st century? Many of them, despite not being considered precursors of a movement or a new sound, have a great influence on today's music.
Bands like DragonForce, Gojira, and Volbeat seek to bring new ideas to the world of Metal, just as the bands considered classic did during their formative period.
Of course, there are also those timeless bands, which may have started their career in the 20th century but remain as strong as at the beginning of their career (if not stronger).
Motörhead, AC/DC, and Metallica are some examples. With a discography that could tell the story of the late 20th century and still have room for the novelties of the 21st century, these bands don't expect to be left out when we talk about modernity and innovation.
So, we've put together a list of eleven albums from both not-so-new and veteran bands that chose 2008 to release some of the best metal albums.
Starting off 2018, we want to celebrate the anniversary of these young albums that are only ten years old but have already had a great impact on the lives of headbangers.
Check out our list and let us know in the comments if we left any albums out!
