Those who came before Black Sabbath

Before the term "Metal" was coined, many bands were already creating a sound that would change the way we listen to music.

Among them are the famous Led Zeppelin, Beatles, and Pink Floyd, but the movement that preceded and created our beloved Heavy Metal also came from bands like Jacula, High Tide, and other great names that we don't hear about as much these days.

Ultimate Guitar did us a favor and listed the ten heaviest songs that came before the definition of Metal and that helped shape the sound we hear so much of today.

Check out the list below and leave your opinion in the comments.

Bitter Creek – Plastic Thunder

Jacula – Triumphalus Sad

Pink Floyd – The Nile Song

The Stooges – I Wanna Be Your Dog

King Crimson – 21st Century Schizoid Man
