“The last show was kind of strange. You could tell there was something wrong in the air. It’s important to point out that every Soundgarden show is very intense. I think he even yelled at me and another technician at that show because he couldn’t hear himself, but he hadn’t plugged in his in-ear , so it wasn’t our fault,” the technician, who has worked with artists ranging from Prince to Katy Perry , recalls when asked about the last thing Chris said to him. “Then he broke a string on a guitar that had a crazy tuning, EEBBBE (E-E-B-B-B-E), so he wanted it fixed right away and didn’t want to move on to the next song, so I had to fix that guitar quickly and without a backup.”

Regarding how he received the news about his friend, Vincent recounts, “I was in my bunk on the tour bus, traveling to the next city on the tour, when I was woken up by Ted Keedick . He said, 'Vince, turn off your cell phone and don't talk to anyone, because Chris just killed himself.' What a sad day for the music community.”
